A Change in Wind? Alberta Utility Commission’s Approval of the Willow Ridge Wind Project
On June 12th, the AUC, after many consultations and reviews, approved the 196 MW Willow Ridge wind project located south of Fort Macleod. This approval marks a significant shift for the province, which had implemented a 7-month moratorium on further renewable energy projects last year. The project was initially proposed in 2008 but was abandoned by its original developers due to financial concerns.
